Eakin Family
NOTE: Ancestry dating back to John Bean Eakins b1809 is believed true based on personal knowledge, census records and the notes of Clara Elizabeth Eakin Stringer (twin sister of Clarence Eakin) as transcribed by Dennis Baugh. (These notes are the source of the Bean name and his DOB.) Census and other records show John 1809 growing up in the Meigs Tshp, Adams Co., Ohio home of “Squire” John Eakins b1785 then living nearby as he married and started a family. Between 1840 and 1850, when several of his children died, John 1809 and his wife and two boys, moved to Putnamville, Putnam Co., Indiana which was on the National Road west from Southern Ohio. His youngest son, John Eakin (no S) (b1847) was born in Putnamville, Putnam Co., Indiana. Census records show both John 1809 and 1785 as being born in the State of PA.
While it is undisputed that John 1809 was raised by Squire John 1785, he doesn’t well fit with the known family of Squire John Eakins and Hanna Wright and John 1809 is not mentioned in the very detailed will of John 1785.
